Dr. Cox is a human geneticist studying common disorders with complex patterns of transmission, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, inherited thyroid defects, asthma, autism, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Populations studied include Caucasian, Asian, African-American, Mexican-American and Hutterite populations. Dr. Cox has also developed a research program in the development and extension of methods for genetic analysis, particularly linkage analysis.
